Teaching Experience

Ms. Huang first came to MERC eight years ago as a parent when her older son attended the C1A class.  A year later, she took over the class after the teacher retired. Since then, she has been teaching at MERC C1A for over six years.

Teaching Style

Ms. Huang's class goal is to develop children's interest in the language.  In her class, she will introduce the language through speaking, writing, playing games, telling stories, singing songs and doing art work. Each week she typically introduce 3-6 new words.  The emphasis will be more on recognizing the words than memorizing how to write them.  She will also spend time on conversational Chinese. For example, your kids will learn how to say the following in Mandarin Chinese:

What is your name?
How many people are there in your family?
What date is today?
What time is it?
Where are you going?
What are you looking at?
Do you want to… ?

Each week, please expect a homework packet and it is due the following week.  The homework should take no more than 2 hours a week to do.
