The abacus class teaches students to learn math computation skills by using an abacus as a tool at first. Over the course of a year the students will be able to shift to mental computation and will be able to carry out addition, subtraction, multiplication and division without using the abacus. Beginning with simple calculations and eventually shifting to complex ones, this mental math training accelerates math ability and skills and contributes to further intellectual growth. It takes about a year to achieve this goal.
Primary/Intermediate Abacus Class 珠算班-初/中级
The intermediate abacus class is a continuation of the beginning class. Students will continue to focus on the advanced abacus rules, and practice on the advanced operations with larger numbers.
Q: My daughter is 7 years old (2nd Grader). Is Beginning Abacus suitable for her? A: Since the number concept and abstract thinking are involved in the process of learning abacus, a child of age 7 or older is considered more ready to begin learning abacus. If your daughter could call out the number facts intuitively, she should have no problems following along. She can be put on our list to tryout abacus. If she is not ready for abacus, she could check out our other enrichment classes.
